Our Heritage & Craft
Master bladesmithing, honest materials, and functional heirloom artistry forged in South Africa.
Our Craftsmanship
Kappetijn Knives designs, manufactures, and sells accessible handmade knives, axes, and swords crafted in Damascus, high-carbon, and stainless steels. Our blades have become trusted alternatives to established international brands, delivering remarkable value while upholding uncompromising handmade character.
Each piece is shaped by experienced bladesmiths who dedicate hours to perfecting balance, edge retention, and long-term durability. A fine knife is more than an implement—it is an extension of the hand that wields it.
We are also proud to hold exclusive distribution rights for authentic Khukuris from the renowned Nepalese Khukuri House, connecting South African collectors directly with one of the world’s most iconic blade traditions.
Premium Materials
Our blades are forged from steels selected for edge performance, resilience, and visual character—including pattern-welded Damascus, Stainless Damascus, D2 tool steel, Bohler N690, 440C stainless, and high-carbon steels.
Handle scales are individually hand-matched for ergonomics and natural beauty: rosewood, walnut, wengewood, wild olive, ebony, natural and dyed giraffe bone, warthog tusk, kudu horn, and our own workshop-made hessian and cotton micarta.
Functional Art Built for Generations
Whether you are selecting a collector centerpiece, a field skinning blade, or commissioning a custom design, our workshop stands behind every edge we craft.
